1. Nha Trang Beach
A 7-km arc of golden sand backed by a palm-lined promenade — one of Vietnam's best urban beaches. The water is clear and swimmable from January to August; lifeguards are posted during peak season. Beach vendors rent sun loungers and umbrellas for 50,000 VND. Tip: The northern end of the beach near the Sheraton is quieter; the central section near the Novotel is busiest.
2. Scuba Diving at Hon Mun
The Hon Mun Marine Protected Area, accessible by boat from the main pier, protects the richest coral reef ecosystem on Vietnam's coast. Macro marine life — sea horses, nudibranchs, ghost pipefish — as well as larger reef fish are reliably sighted. Rainbow Divers and Sailing Club Divers are the most established PADI operators. Duration: Full day with two dives. Tip: Water visibility is best February–June; avoid July–August monsoon season at the diving sites.
3. Island Hopping (Four Island Tour)
The standard day trip from the main pier visits four offshore islands — Hon Mun, Hon Tam, Hon Mot, and Hon Ong — combining snorkeling, beach time, and a seafood lunch at a floating restaurant. The floating wine glass bar on the return journey is a Nha Trang institution. Duration: Full day. Tip: Book through your guesthouse or directly at the pier; avoid the cheapest group tours that rush the stops.
4. Po Nagar Cham Towers
Four Cham temple towers built between the 7th and 12th centuries stand on a granite hill above the Cai River, 2 km north of the city center. The towers are still in active use as Hindu shrines; incense fills the main sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Po Nagar. The hilltop views encompass the river, the bay, and the distant mountains. Duration: 1 hour. Tip: 22,500 VND entry; remove shoes before entering the towers.
5. Vinpearl Land (Hon Tre Island)
Vietnam's largest and most elaborate amusement park occupies an entire island, connected to the mainland by the world's longest overwater cable car (3.3 km). The park contains a water park, aquarium, game zone, and entertainment venues. Duration: Full day. Tip: 800,000 VND all-inclusive; best for families and groups. Book online for discounts.
6. Mud Bath and Hot Springs (Thap Ba)
Nha Trang's volcanic geology supports natural mineral hot springs, and the Thap Ba complex offers mineral mud baths, hot spring pools, and massage services in a well-run resort setting. A genuinely relaxing half-day. Duration: 2–3 hours. Tip: Book in advance during peak season; the private mineral tubs are worth the premium.
7. Long Son Pagoda and Giant Buddha
A 24-meter white Buddha sits on a hilltop above the city's largest active pagoda — a 20-minute walk (or tuk-tuk ride) from the city center. The views from the Buddha's terrace take in the entire Nha Trang bay. Duration: 1 hour. Tip: Free entry; dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered).
8. Dam Market (Cho Dam)
The city's main covered market is a practical shopping and food destination — fresh seafood, local snacks, dried goods, and souvenir textiles across two busy floors. Duration: 1 hour. Tip: The ground floor food section has excellent bun ca (fish noodle soup) from 30,000 VND.

Bun Ca (Fish Noodle Soup): Nha Trang's defining breakfast dish — a clear broth with chunks of grilled fish, tomato, and dill, served over vermicelli with a garnish of pineapple and fresh herbs.
Nem Nuong Ninh Hoa: Grilled pork rolls from Ninh Hoa district (30 km north), eaten rolled in rice paper with herbs and a tangy fermented sauce. One of the most distinctive dishes of the Khanh Hoa coast.
Bach Tuoc Nuong (Grilled Octopus): Freshly caught octopus grilled over charcoal on the beachfront; a Nha Trang evening staple available from vendors along Tran Phu Street.
Seafood at Louisiane Brewhouse: The beachfront Louisiane Brewhouse — restaurant, microbrewery, and outdoor pool — serves a comprehensive seafood menu with craft beer brewed on-site.
Best Time to Visit
February–June: The best conditions. Clear skies, calm seas, and water temperature 25–28°C. Diving visibility at its peak.
July–August: Peak domestic season; hot, crowded, and occasionally rough seas.
September–December: Rainy season. October and November can bring typhoons and significant rainfall. Beach and diving activities may be disrupted.

How to Get There
By air: Cam Ranh International Airport has direct international flights from Seoul, Beijing, and regional hubs, plus domestic connections from Hanoi (1h 40m) and HCMC (1 hour). Taxi to city: 250,000–350,000 VND (30–45 min).
By train: The Reunification Express stops at Nha Trang; sleeper trains from HCMC (8–9 hours) and Hanoi (24–26 hours).
By bus: Express buses from HCMC take 8–9 hours; from Da Lat 4–5 hours.

Nha Trang is unapologetically a beach resort — and one of the best in Vietnam at delivering exactly what it promises. The diving is world-class, the beach is beautiful, and the Cham towers add a dimension of history that most beach towns lack. Come for the sun and the sea; the rest is a bonus.
