Tips for Travellers
- Book at least 2–3 days in advance, especially in peak season (Nov–Apr).
- Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen.
- Carry small denomination Vietnamese Dong (VNĐ) for tips and local purchases.
- Suitable for all fitness levels including families with children.
Why This Tour
Cu Chi is one of the few places in Vietnam where you can physically experience wartime history rather than just read about it — crawling through a section of tunnel that once sheltered thousands of people underground gives a visceral sense of scale that a museum exhibit can't. It's consistently one of the most-booked half-day trips from Ho Chi Minh City for exactly that reason.
Good to Know
Is it appropriate for children?
It depends on the child — the site includes some intense wartime imagery and content (booby traps, weapons, war footage) that may not suit younger or sensitive kids. Many families do visit successfully with children aged 10 and up, but it's worth reviewing what the visit involves beforehand.
I'm claustrophobic — can I still do this tour?
Yes. A shorter, wider tunnel section is available specifically for visitors who don't want the full crawl, and there's no obligation to enter the tunnels at all if you'd rather just see the exhibits and grounds above ground.
