Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Train to Lao Cai, Trek to Cat Cat
Board an overnight sleeper train from Hanoi in the evening. You'll arrive in Lao Cai early the next morning and transfer by road up into the mountains to Sapa town, where the trek begins with a walk down into Cat Cat village to see traditional weaving and a waterfall, before continuing toward Muong Hoa Valley.

Day 2: Muong Hoa Valley to Homestay
The main trekking day - walking through some of the most photographed rice terraces in Vietnam, following buffalo paths between Ta Van and neighboring villages. Along the way, local guides (often from the H'mong or Dao communities themselves) point out crops, farming techniques, and daily village life. In the late afternoon, arrive at a homestay for a family-style dinner and a night sleeping on a traditional stilt-house floor with blankets provided.

Day 3: Ta Van to Sapa, Return to Hanoi
A shorter morning trek or free time to explore the homestay village before transferring back to Sapa town, with time to browse the Love Market and central square before the drive back to Lao Cai station for the overnight train back to Hanoi, arriving early the next morning.
